Jääkäripuukko – universal Finnish knife for outdoor, bushcraft and everyday work
Jääkäripuukko 110 is an excellent medium-sized all-purpose knife that can handle almost any task in the field or around the house. It performs best as a reliable working knife when paired with an axe or a larger knife such as the Skrama. Thanks to its solid construction, carbon steel and traditional Finnish blade profile, this is not a decorative piece but an honest tool built for real use.
Jääkäripuukko 140 in the longer version is already large enough to cut branches, bushes and thicker sticks with ease. The longer blade is also better suited for wood splitting and processing logs. Compared to the 110 version it is slightly less nimble, but still more than practical for regular field use.
- Medium-sized all-purpose knife for most uses
- Traditional drop-point profile with Finnish geometry
- High scandi grind with micro bevel
- Spine prepared for firesteel use
- Hybrid full tang construction with rubberized handle
- Exposed tang end with lanyard hole
- Made in Finland
80CrV2 carbon steel and heat treatment
The blade is made from proven 80CrV2 tool carbon steel, trusted by the Finnish knife industry for decades. This material is known for its high toughness, durability and long edge retention, making it ideal for outdoor, bushcraft and working knives.
The special heat treatment leaves the outer layer of the blade slightly softer, at around 52 HRC. This tougher outer layer protects the blade from cracking or chipping during heavy use. During sharpening, the harder core at approx. 59 HRC is gradually exposed, ensuring excellent edge retention and easy maintenance.
The blade spine features beveled edges for use with a firesteel, which is especially useful when starting a fire outdoors.
After heat treatment, the blade may show a slightly mottled finish. This is a natural characteristic of tool steel and part of the knife’s rugged character, which gradually wears away with normal use.
The cutting edge uses a fine secondary bevel for precise cutting and easy upkeep. The strong and wide tang runs through the entire handle and extends beyond it, creating a full tang construction for maximum strength. The exposed tang end can also be used for light impact work or attaching a lanyard.
Carbon steel maintenance
If the blade gets wet in the field, we recommend drying it thoroughly as soon as possible after use. Never store the knife wet in the sheath for long periods, as this may lead to corrosion.
For maximum rust protection, the blade should be kept lightly oiled in addition to proper drying. Regular basic care significantly extends the life of the knife and preserves both its performance and appearance.
Durable rubberized handle for a secure grip
The handle is ergonomically shaped to fit comfortably in the hand during both fine work and heavy-duty use. It features a small finger guard to prevent slipping, a fuller midsection for a firm grip and an expanded butt end that improves safety during chopping and pull cuts.
The rubberized surface ensures a secure grip even in wet, cold conditions or when wearing gloves, making this knife an ideal choice for bushcraft, survival and hunting.
Choose the sheath that suits your carry style
The Jääkäripuukko can be carried on a belt, tactical vest, backpack or outdoor gear. Two sheath options are available – a traditional leather sheath or a modern Boltaron sheath.
Leather sheath – classic design with modern functionality
The leather sheath features a 6 cm wide belt loop with a D-ring, allowing it to move naturally and stay comfortable while sitting. Inside there is a plastic insert with a drain hole that prevents water, snow and dirt from accumulating.
The open side construction protects the leather from being cut during drawing. The knife stays securely in place even without the snap fastened, which is especially convenient during frequent camp use. When moving, however, we recommend always fastening the snap for maximum security.
Right or left-handed version?
The right / left sheath designation refers to the draw direction based on your dominant hand, not the side of the belt where it is carried. The right version is designed for natural right-hand draw, while the left version is intended for left-handed users.
Boltaron sheath – modern tactical solution
Boltaron is a highly durable thermoplastic similar to Kydex, but it offers even better performance in extremely low and high temperatures. The sheath is ideal for attachment to a belt, vest, backpack or MOLLE / PALS system.
Thanks to its symmetrical construction, it is suitable for both right- and left-handed users and is excellent not only for tactical use, but also for bushcraft, hiking, hunting and everyday carry. Mounting clips and accessories are sold separately.
