How about tacos and kydex?

Kydex is a thermoplastic material that is widely used in the manufacture of various products, especially in tactical and technical applications. It is highly durable and retains its shape well - it is resistant to impact, scratches, heat and other damage, making it suitable for products such as gun holsters and other tactical equipment.

Kydex does not naturally absorb moisture and is a lightweight material that does not significantly increase the weight of equipment. Minimizing cargo weight is often key in field conditions. Thermoplastics are also easy to clean and disinfect - just wash them! For example, if you put a knife covered in blood and mud back in the sheath after some activity in the woods.

Two common types of kydex sheaths are the Taco and Pancake models. These two types have some differences in construction and use. Taco-shaped cases are shaped like a taco or tortilla and encase the contents. In our Terävä Kydex cases, the material is folded in two and sealed on one side. For Pancake type cases, the two separate parts are laid on top of each other and sealed from both sides, similar to our Boltaron cases. The Pancake is wider but allows for a more secure fastening from both sides, while the Taco is narrower and allows for different fastening methods. The choice between these two types of holsters depends on personal needs and fastening preferences - as the saying goes, some like girls and some like muffins.
