Leather sheath for Jääkäripuukko – durable, secure and made in Finland
High-quality leather sheath for Jääkäripuukko knives is designed for maximum safety, long service life and comfortable everyday carry. This Finnish sheath made from genuine leather stands out with its simple and functional construction, reliably protecting the knife in the field, while camping and during everyday outdoor use.
Secure knife retention is ensured by the shaped sheath throat together with a snap-button retention strap. Thanks to its well-thought-out design, the knife stays firmly in place even without the snap fastened, which is especially useful during camp tasks or frequent use. However, when moving in the field, we always recommend fastening the snap for maximum security.
Thoughtful construction for all-weather use
Inside the leather sheath there is a spacious plastic insert that prevents water, snow or mud from getting trapped inside. Moisture can easily drain through the drain hole at the sheath tip, keeping the knife better protected even in demanding conditions.
The sheath edge is double-folded to create a sturdy collar around the handle. When drawing the knife, the edge slides along the open side, so the leather is not cut by the blade, helping the sheath maintain a long lifespan.
Practical swivel belt hanger
The 6 cm wide belt loop on the 110 and 140 mm variants features a D-ring, allowing the sheath to naturally move with your body. This keeps the knife from getting in the way while walking or sitting, while also preventing uncontrolled swinging common with traditional leather danglers.
At the sheath tip there is a reinforced hole with a metal grommet for attaching a lanyard or additional retention.
Right or left-handed version?
The right / left sheath designation refers to the draw style based on your dominant hand, not the side of the belt where it is worn. From a right-handed sheath, you draw the knife naturally with your right hand whether it is carried on the right, left or front of the belt. The left-handed version works the same way for left-handed users.
Premium leather with a focus on origin and sustainability
Varusteleka sheaths use high-quality leather from the Finnish family company Pelo, established in 1897. The leather used comes exclusively as a by-product of dairy and meat production or from legal sources provided by hunters and herders. This ensures an ethical origin of the material while maintaining excellent craftsmanship quality.
The manufacturer places strong emphasis on waste reduction, efficient logistics and long-term sustainable production, making this sheath not only a practical but also a responsible accessory for your knife.
Care tip for long service life
Never force the knife out of the closed sheath with the snap fastened. While it is possible, it may damage the closure over time. To maintain flawless function, we recommend lightly oiling the snap from time to time to protect it against corrosion.
