Don't worry if you accidentally lose or damage your stainless steel fire pit. Here is a replacement part that fits the Trekker small kettle.
The firebox is the base for your Kelly Kettle and it too can burn with use. The good news is that you can buy a replacement firebox. A fire pit is essential if you are in a particularly dry environment and there is a risk of fire. Proper use of the kettle on the fire pit ensures that the fire and embers are kept safe at all times.
The fire pit is made of stainless steel and will usually withstand many years of heavy use. The key to making the fire pit last as long as possible is to put the fire out as soon as the kettle has finished cooking. Many people leave burning embers in the fireplace long after they have finished cooking in the kettle and taken it off the fireplace. And this can cause the hearth material to overheat. To prolong the life of your fire pit, put out the fire immediately after it has simmered.
Of course, the kettle will work perfectly and boil water even without the fireplace! Simply place the kettle on a non-combustible surface such as a flat stone or gravel, then lift the kettle slightly (about 1-2cm from the base) using 3-4 small, flat stones to give it traction into the chimney. Your kettle will then continue to cook perfectly.
