Whistle for Kelly Kettle "Trekker" models
The metal whistle is inserted into soft green rubber, compatible with older models of this kettle size as well. Rubber was chosen because it is easy and safe to insert and remove and will not get stuck (a metal whistle can jam on the metal spout due to expansion/contraction from heat). Clip and split-ring are included. Chain not included.
Note: Not suitable for larger "Base Camp" or "Scout" models.
Instructions for use:
Fill the kettle partially – about 15 mm below the spout. See blue line in the picture.
- Place the green Kelly Kettle whistle loosely and gently into the kettle spout. The arrow on the whistle must point downwards to safely direct escaping steam.
- Do not press the whistle into the spout – it should be easy to remove after the water boils.
- Boil the kettle as usual (see instruction leaflet supplied with the kettle).
- After boiling, remove the kettle from the fire and place it on a level surface. Allow water to settle for about 1 minute. Hold the kettle with one hand on the handle. With the other hand, place your index finger in the split ring and your thumb on the opposite side of the whistle. Gently lift the whistle. Never use a jerking motion or excessive force.
- Follow the pouring and handling instructions supplied with your kettle.
IMPORTANT WARNINGS:
- Never use the kettle with the green whistle and orange stopper at the same time.
- Do not overfill the kettle – boiling water may overflow and spray the whistle downward.
- Never stand in front of the spout; always stand to the side or behind the kettle.
- Always keep children away from the kettle. The kettle is not a toy, and caution is required when handling boiling water.
- Never use the kettle empty or allow it to boil dry – this will damage the kettle.
