Mini-Puukko leather case

The rustic leather holster consists of a plastic insert and traditional Finnish holster construction. The plastic liner is roomy enough to allow water to flow around the knife, which spills out through a small hole at the end of the sheath. Around the mouth of the sheath, the leather is folded over twice, creating a strong and rigid wide band that wraps tightly around the handle of the knife. To secure the knife, you can also use a stud to tighten the mouth even further. When you draw the knife, the blade moves smoothly between the leather sides and does not cut them, a traditional advantage of Finnish puukko-style sheaths. Even without using the stud, the sheath retains enough rigidity to keep the knife in place, so you don't have to keep opening and closing the stud as you work around camp. Just remember to close it when you go to move it!

Don't carry your knife in the sheath with the stud open for long periods of time! Although the knife will stay in the holster, it will not be enough for long term horizontal carry and the holster may become damaged. The stud will quickly and easily loosen if you need to pull the knife out.

Ideally, you should drip oil on the stud once in a while to prevent it from becoming stiff or gray.
